Here is a sampling of our politics and philosophy, both of which are woven into the fabric of our daily lives. A selection of three essays have been chosen for your reflection, though you will find several more in our Political Palate Series Cookbooks. All essays are copyright protected. The first paragraph of each essay is listed here with a link to the entire essay presented on another page. The Political Palate Series books have extensive footnotes, but, it is not practical here to list them in this reproduction as there are just too many.

Ethical Vegetarianism
It is important to explain once again why we, as feminists, are ethical vegetarians. It is amazing to us that so many human animals don't want to know that other thinking and feeling creatures ( the overwhelming majority of them female) are tortured and killed so that we may eat meat or consume "safely" tested drugs and cosmetics. As Carol Adams writes: "Feminists explain sexism through animal metaphors, while unquestioningly accepting the speciesism which permits animal abuse. The implication is that how we treat other animals is lamentable if they were anything but non-human animals. We should remember that while women may feel like a piece of meat and be treated like pieces of meat, animals are pieces of meat." ... continue reading

Introduction to The Political Palate
A Feminist Cookbook? What is a feminist cookbook? What's a feminist restaurant? There is no such thing as feminist food! So people have said. This is what we say: We are feminists, that is we recognize that women are oppressed by patriarchy - the rule of the fathers - and we commit ourselves to rebellion against that oppression. Feminism is not a part-time attitude for us, it is how we live all day, every day. Our choices in furniture, pictures, the music we play, the books we sell and the food we cook, all reflect and express our feminism. Our food is vegetarian because we are feminists. ...
